I just went to the Comic Strip Live auditions.

I actually have fun at these auditions. I see a bunch of comics that I haven’t seen in months and get to bullshit with them. Its fun. Today’s lovely lovely surprise was the new way the Lottery was conducted. Ya see, it seems that today instead of the random audition dates that normally are handed out, it was handed out numerically. Basically you go up first, you get an early spot on the auditions. Under normal circumstances that would have been fine.

HAD I KNOWN ABOUT IT.

I stroll my ass up to the line about 5:35pm. They’re supposed to be opening the doors about 6pm. I see that the line was around the block. I’m thinking “So what? I can still trade once i get in the door.

Then comedian Alan Schwartz comes up the block. I know I saw him in front of me. I’m like “Why is he leaving? He should be waiting for the big sign up. Schwartz is like “Oh, I already have my date.” That’s how I learned about the lovely numeric way of doing things.

So I think I will be at the strip at the end of AUGUST.

I do respect the way they do things though. I’ve never been solicited to do a bringer there. I just did another Comedy Club audition in NY (I almost linked the club to this. That would just be UNWISE) and I got a call back today saying “Oh, we liked your set, we need you to come by and do 3 new talent nights. On the third night the manager will tell you if you passed.”

Oh come the FUCK on.

That’s not how this works. If they like you they pass you, not make you go through all this bullshit. I’m thinking about doing it just to make them turn me down to my face. Tell me what’s wrong with my set. I just hate bringers so fricken much. Fahnon Bennett definitely come out and support me. Neil Trivedi would come out too. I got my numbers who would come out to make sure I’d get a chance, but in my mind its the principal of it all.

I should do it so that I can bad mouth this club properly. Right now its pure conjecture. It just sounds like a big steaming pile of bullshit. But if I do these 3 bringers they’d have to give me a solid reason. All I have to do is make sure I have my solid set up for it 3 weeks in a row.

I’m 5 seconds from doing it.
